The Graphic Foodie | Brighton Food Blog & Restaurant Reviews

I was lucky enough to be included in a blogger's recipe book for House of Fraser published at the end of 2014. I had a hard time choosing from my recipes but finally decided on my beetroot gnocchi with goats cheese, peas, watercress and walnuts. It's pretty photogenic but also everyone who I've tested it out on (including 3 year old Foodie) loves it.

Anyway, I'm really pleased to be part of the book (more so as I'm the first recipe!). Although I have written for quite a lot of online publications and I have featured in print before in places like Olive Magazine and the Times, it's nice to be featured in a real, live, physical cookbook that I hope people will find helpful.

The book also features 14 bloggers and a range of recipes from Rosemary Red Wine Pears to Blueberry and Coconut Crunch Cake so pick up a copy if you can!

Print is dead huh? Well I've just been featured in issue two of Blogosphere Magazine, a printed magazine for and about the blogging community. Theres something I like about the full circle of this, print to web to print. Why not? My blog reader is often crammed, I hate reading on-screen in bed and sometimes after nine hours at work chained to the Macbook Pro and my phone, I want a break from screen glare and finger scroll.

Blogosphere Magazine has the RSS feed style about it, being a mash-up of food, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and photography, choice snippets from peoples blogs. It's nicely designed with watercolour illustrations, well structured and a great way to discover new bloggers.

If you want something good to read that has been pre-edited with good content selected by bloggers at the top of their game, then give it a look.

Issue two of Blogosphere Magazine and subscriptions (6 for the price of 5) can be bought from: www.newsstand.co.uk

And if print is too retro for your screen addicted eyes, then e-versions can be bought from: www.blogospheremagazine.com/magazines

This month's Olive Magazine is extra special, having most of its content contributed by readers themselves. I'm to be found on page 88 singing the praises of my personal number one Brighton restaurant, The Chilli Pickle, in the Hidden Gems. Feel especially proud to be representing my hometown!

This issue is out in stores until the beginning of August. Some readers have contributed some particularly yummy recipes. I adore Emily Crawford's Italian-inspired menu for six people which includes this amazing Zuccotto with orange and chocolate. It has all of my favourites like vin santo, ricotta and of course chocolate. I'll be darned if I shared it with five other people though!

UPDATE: Managed to get a copy, here it is in full (click on image to enlarge). Best bit is that I'm under a feature for Tortas de Aceite, which are amazing Spanish cakes. I only recently discovered these moorish crispy flat cakes made with olive oil, sprinkled with sugar and flavoured with aniseed in Bill's. Worth a try if you can find them. I may celebrate by treating myself to a pack today!

Just got an email from someone to say I'm in the Times too! I was at a photoshoot all day so didn't check my emails until very late, thus unable to get a copy. So if anyone has the food supplement from The Times on June 3rd, please get in contact. It's a good week for press!

Featuring a rather lovely looking Neapolitan semi freddo on the cover, July's Olive Magazine also features little ol' me as Blog of the Month. All 18 lines of it make me feel very warm and fuzzy inside. Shame they used the Fiona Cairns post as the picture, probably one of my least favourite books I've featured, but I can get over that!

About Me

With a love of my home town, this blog lists frequently updated Brighton restaurant reviews for both Brightonians and visitors to navigate to all the best food spots in the city. Although the focus is on our fantastic local independent restaurants, you can also discover selected cafes, supper clubs and pop-up restaurants. In the mix are also my kitchen experiments and family recipes from the Abruzzo region of Italy, food-related design, product reviews and book recommendations.
